Datin Dr Ummul Wahiy Binti Abdul Hakim is a renowned consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist in the Klang Valley, having been practicing in this profession for almost three decades.

After completing her Medical Degree at Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1994, she proudly showcased her strongest aptitude – passion in caring and curing the community with great energy and determination.

She later advanced her career by serving at a number of major hospitals in Malaysia where she developed her special interest in the field of women’s health.

A sensitive woman at heart, who had always envisioned to essentially improve the lives of other women, she strongly acknowledged the unique experiences and challenges that women often face during pregnancy, childbirth, or coping with numerous gynaecological issues that might weigh down their emotions, careers and even affecting other people close to them.

This was indeed  the turning point in her journey to choose obstetrics and gynaecology as her path forward.

Upon completing her Masters in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 2001, she became the resident consultant at a number of reputable public and private healthcare facilities including Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Selayang, Apollo TTDI Medical Centre, Mawar Medical Centre, Kelana Jaya Medical Centre, and Salam Medical Centre.

She was not only providing obstetrics and gynaecological services but also was a strong advocate for non- communicable disease prevention, family planning and regenerative medicine.

Her 20 years of tireless dedication and commitment in the provision of quality and uncompromised healthcare to her patients has positioned Dr Ummul Wahiy to where she is today – a remarkably successful obstetrician and gynaecologist having delivered more than 20,000 babies at  Hospital UMRA alone, one of the leading private healthcare facilities in the Klang Valley for obstetrics and gynaecology.

As a resident obstetrics and gynaecology consultant and the director of Hospital UMRA, a health care entity she co-founded with her husband, Datuk Dr Mohamed Rafi bin Mohammed Feizal, her roles go beyond clinical duties.

She leads the hospital team to ensure the workplace operates efficiently by hiring a dynamic team of highly skilled consultants in different medical specialties.

Hospital UMRA has become more than just a woman’s hospital, but has successfully branched out to pediatrics, internal medicine, emergency care, plastic surgery, general surgery, radiology, fertility and aesthetics with a particular niche in aesthetics gynaecology.

Datin Dr Ummul Wahiy believes that every woman should feel beautiful and that beauty begins from within. To be able to treat intimate issues in women that are often unheard and rarely discussed about is one of Dr Ummul’s special interests in clinical practice.

These issues may affect both the young and old causing unresolved damages to relationships, health, emotions and eventually leading to psychological issues.

For these reasons, Datin Dr Ummul Wahiy pursued a diploma in aesthetic medicine in 2012 and successfully completed the course from the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine, USA.

In 2013 she received intensive training at Fotona Slovenia. She became one of the pioneering gynaecologist in the field of aesthetic medicine Malaysia, a certified trainer for Fotona Asia Pacific and an advocate in this remarkable field.

Datin Dr Ummul Wahiy is one of the handful gynecologists in Malaysia who have been given the Letter of Credentialing and Privileges (LCP) as a symbol of recognition by The Malaysian Ministry of Health in providing aesthetic gynaecology services in Malaysia.

Over the years, she has positively managed patients with stress urinary incontinence, vaginismus, menopausal discomfort, and even restoration of the function of the female genital area affected by childbirth, trauma or aging with the help of energy-based devices. This has remarkably enhanced the quality of life of women holistically and connections with spouses.

Despite her busy clinic demands, Datin Dr Ummul Wahiy would always find time to nurture the society through public forums, health workshops, newspaper and magazine editorials to continually create awareness on feminine health issues for the public.

In addition, she is one of the media’s most popular medical advocates given her ability to articulate effectively and by virtue of having a pleasant personality.

This enables her to deliver her expert advice and opinions to all segments of society, young and old alike. As such, she has appeared on leading talkshows for instance NONA, Wanita Hari Ini, ASTRO, IRIS RTM 1, Radio KLFM, Pa & Ma live streams, Dr Inky’s podcast among others.

Both Datin Dr Ummul Wahiy and her husband – Datuk Dr Rafi – have served as permanent panel columnists for the health column for one of Malaysia’s leading Bahasa Malaysia newspaper -Metro Sihat from 2016 – 2018.

In addition, she is regularly invited as a panel speaker by both local and international medically related associations to share on latest advancements in gynaecology.

Currently, Datin Dr Ummul Wahiy is a certified clinical hypnotherapy practitioner with a Diploma and Specialist Certificate in Clinical Hypnotherapy from LCCH Asia.

This newest passion of hers has propelled her to launch UMRA’s very own Wellness Centre in Shah Alam, Selangor, a one-of-a-kind centre offering a myriad of alternative healing treatments to calm the body and mind.
